The Wimmera Mallee Environmental and Agricultural Protection Association Inc. WMEAP, fully supports the Victorian Farmers Federation’s call for an immediate halt to Western Renewables Link (WRL) and VNI West, pending proper community engagement.

The decision by the Essential Services Commission to grant an electricity transmission licence to TCV must not be used to steamroll landowners.

‘The exceedingly poor government process has not properly engaged with community or landowners’, WMEAP President Ross Johns, of Warracknabeal said yesterday.

‘WMEAP is committed to open and transparent community information, from government, government bodies and the private sector. We support everyone’s right to factual and timely information, including rural Councils. Biosecurity and safety issues cannot be appropriately managed in a forced entry situation onto farmland’, Mr Johns said.

WMEAP’s policy is to support our communities as they strive to protect the natural environment and food production in the Wimmera Mallee region of Victoria. For more information contact admin@wmeap.com
